Sydney B. Thomas’s Testimony of Salvation

My name is Sydney Adekunle, Barnabas Thomas. I was born in Sierra Leone, unto the union of Sydney Thomas Sr. and Eunice max-Macarthy. My father was a driver, and mother a dressmaker. Both parents were idol worshippers, involved in most of the secret societies in the nation. I grew up with my mother, as a single parent, in a compound that housed the shrine of the traditional devils. At age  twelve (12), I was already a gang member, and went to prison several times.

In 1985, I migrated to Liberia and happened to live with a Christian family that had family devotions. It was during these devotions, that I for the very first time read the Bible and prayed to God.  On day I had a dream and saw myself at a clinic seating at the outpatient.  I noticed that as patients went into the consultation room, they never came out. When it came to my turn, I entered the consultation room, and extremely shocked that there was no one in the room, it was completely empty - No chairs, tables, nothing absolutely. While gazing, I heard an awesome, prescriptive voice saying "Psalm 19, 14 times 7", and I immediately woke up from my sleep. I right there and then knew that God wanted me to read that portion of scripture 14 times for 7 days.

At the end of reading that scripture, I was walking on the VP Road in Monrovia in 1987 drunk when an old friend met me and talked and led me to Jesus on that Friday night. After praying for me, he invited me to attend the Monrovia Bible Training center the next day. Praise God for saving me!!

Musu’s Life and Testimony

My name is Musu Pamela Thomas. I was born to the union of James and Bendu Brown, the third child of  twelve children. A Liberian from a little village in Bomi County called Zown, and from a small tribe which is not known very much because most of our people are not educated.

My family people are Muslims and also idol worshippers. A child born in that village had to be dedicated  to the gods for protection. From birth, I was dedicated to the gods for protection. Two times a year, sacrifice was made to protect our village from evil spirits. In the midst of this, God's grace reached me, a group of missionaries from Ohio, the United States of America came to my village to open mission school for children. Some children were selected, and I was fortunate to have been among those selected to go to school on the mission. Our parents were very happy because they taught we will have education to come and help them in the future, they never thought about their religion.

At the age of ten (10) years, I got saved, but did not have full knowledge of Him. As the missionaries will talk about God, I thought Jesus was in America because they were the only people that told me about  Jesus, and I did not understand the spiritual reality. I thought it was physical, and so my prayers were to go to America to see Jesus!

Just before the war, I enrolled at the Bible College so I can get back to my village and county to help my family and people who are lost and in darkness. It was at the Bible College that I met my husband, Sydney, and we got married, and are today serving the Lord in EHC.

There are many, many Muslim children in my village and county, who are just like I was, not knowing God. My vision and prayer is that God opens doors that I can reach my family, people with the Gospel of  Jesus Christ. I strongly believe that one of the easiest ways to reach my Muslim people is through orphanage/mission school, and in that process, like in my case, the children can also learn about Jesus, and eventually the village and county be won to Jesus. Please pray for me that this vision will come to pass.
